About Converter Services LLC

Converter Services was founded in the early 1070s by James “Jim” Atkins.  Jim was an engineer and entrepreneur who saw a need in the paper, film, and foil industries for sturdy, well-built machine knife holders and converting equipment.  He successfully developed and sold his products to a diverse array of customers throughout North America and some overseas markets.  Many of the clients were other knife and equipment manufacturers and distributors.

In the late 1980s, Jim met and developed a working relationship with Paul Turner, who was at that time the sales manager for a machine knife company as well as the owner of his own manufacturer’s representative sales agency.

Throughout the early 1990s Paul’s development of repair procedures to service a wide array of pneumatic and rotary knife tooling led to him becoming one of Jim’s major customers, as Paul was servicing tooling from all over the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic United States.  Additionally, his executive contacts within the industrial textiles and non-wovens markets further increased sales volume and revenue.

Fast forward to 2007 where this fruitful business relationship led to Jim selling his company to Paul, who in partnership with his wife Annette, “re-launched” Converter Services, moving the company from Kentucky, to Shelby, North Carolina.

Annette’s many years of administrative experience and extensive contacts in the converting industry were paramount to the success of Converter Services.  As owner of the company she kept Converter Services running smoothly for many years, but sadly, she passed away in 2024.

Paul continues to operate Converter Services and the company has since become an LLC.  In June of 2025, Paul’s younger son, Jake, came aboard and quickly adapted to meet the needs of our clientele. Converter Services continues to supply the converting industry with quality products and services.
